Beef Stir-Fry

This Japanese Beef Stir-Fry pairs perfectly with rice or noodles to create a complete meal that you'll love.Beef_Stir_Fry

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 12oz sirloin steak, cut into thin strips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • I small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh ginger root
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 12oz fresh snow-peas, strings removed
  • 8 dried shitake mushrooms soaked in warm water
  • 1 head Chinese cabbage
  • 1 tablespoon shoyu
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • Salt to taste

Preparation:

  1. In a wok or skillet, heat the oil over a medium heat until just starting to smoke.
  2. Add the beef and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring all the time, until it is browned.
  3. Remove to a plate and keep warm.
  4. Put the onion, ginger and garlic in the pan and stir-fry for about 4 minutes.
  5. Add the snow-peas and the cabbage and stir-fry for a further 2 minutes.
  6. Add the beef back to the pan, and season with shoyu, sugar and salt.
  7. Serve immediately with freshly cooked rice or noodles.
